1st Day @ WSO2 as an Intern

I was full of expectation as it was my 1st day. There were 12 altogether who started their internship @ WSO2 with me. We were asked to come @ 10, and i didn’t want go late on the 1st day, so i kept my time for that. Udeshika who is responsible for administration @ wso2 and also an interesting person first showed us about how to use the pantry. Then the induction was given by Hasmin . First we were asked what do you know about wso2? Every one told what they knew. There were answers like “Its an open source company”, “They deliver web services”, “Its SOA based”,”They do lot of apache projects”, “Most of their products are based for middle-ware” etc. Then she told us about the company and mentioned the most important point, that is the company has a fun working environment or culture. Then she talked about what are the major products that they have delivered so far. After her speech Udeshika explained about the administrative activities. Both of them were telling that in wso2 they follow flexible working hours.
Like you can come whenever you want and leave whenever you want. But i thought to my self not to follow that, it was not a good idea for me to follow. After udeshika s speech Mr. Samisa who is the head of engineering @ wso2 gave a brief intro about the projects that we have to do and to select one each because there were 12 projects. After the induction it was the lunch time so we all went out to have lunch @ raheemas.

After the lunch we were discussing among our selves what project to select. There were some issues with selecting projects then we went and asked more information on projects and sorted out it. We had time till we were given machines to each of us, so we started playing foose ball, a new game which I played for the very first time. It is some thing similar to a football game. The game was really interesting as four of us played. After that it was the tea time. The tea time is around 3.30pm every day ad every one should be present during this time, so that they can get together and relax from their tiring work. After that we were given email addresses and we were added to the mailing lists also. Finally we were given a place where we have to sit for the nextt 24 weeks, and every one was given a machine to work with each of their projects.
